"SecDef Austin Warns North Korea: US "Ready To Fight Tonight""
The new US Secretary of Defense had to say something like this. The media is filled with a story that nukes are OK in North Korea, suggesting a situation similar to Iran. Iran shouldn't be mistaken. If it comes too close to becoming nuclear, Israel will destroy its nuclear program, with or without the help of the US. If it comes down to this, North Korea will see a similar fate. It's just a matter of who does the dirty work.
If North Korea is worried about US/South Korean conventional weapons, it could negotiate a treaty to diffuse tensions. But this it will not do. It needs a strong military to prevent it from becoming a new province of China. For a long term solution, North Korea could steer its plans towards joining the currently evolving coalition centered around the US, India, Japan, and Australia, as a counterbalance to Chinese expansion. North Korea could send out feelers to South Korea on this. If North Korea wants a solution to its international miseries, it will need a radical new plan, and nukes and missiles can't be a part of it.
